Recipe: Pretty Damn Perfect Yellow Rice

dxbmutxtmnxh3wyf2wugMi tia makes the best yellow rice – ever. She even beats my abuela  and that’s saying a lot. Enjoy!

What You’ll Need:

3 tablespoons of oil

3-4 tablespoons of sofrito

3-4 tablespoons of tomato sauce

1/2 can of gandules

1 pack of sazon

4 cups medium grain rice Salt to taste

How To Make It:

1) Wash rice.

2) Boil a small pot of water.

3) In another pot, heat to medium heat. Add oil, sofrito, tomato sauce, sazon, and gandules. Mix. Add rice. Mix again.

4) Add enough of your boiled water to your rice so that it just covers it. To make sure it’s accurate, put a spoon in the middle of the rice. If it tilts over it has too much water. The spoon should be able to stand up.

5) Add salt to taste.

6) Cook for about 45-60 minutes (depending on stove).
